Carl scrambles back to the Bees
The Bracknell Bees are delighted to announce that popular netminder Carl Ambler has re-joined the team for the 2010/11 English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) season. 24-year old Carl moved to the Bees last summer and became an instant fans’ favourite, through his determined displays on the ice, facing a league-high average of almost 45 shots per game and his approachable, relaxed style off the ice. Before joining the Bees, Carl played in the EPIHL the Chelmsford Chieftains, the Slough Jets and the Romford Raiders and tasted international success in December 2005 as a member of the talented, gold medal winning GB Under-20s squad at the Division 2 World Championships in Romania, where he shared netminding duties with another fans’ favourite, ex-Bee Nathan Craze. Bees’ Head Coach Gareth Cox is pleased to secure Carl’s signature, saying; "Carl is an excellent young, aggressive netminder, who is a strong first line of defence. He is an exciting goalie who produces some unbelievable saves. He has proven to fans how reliable he is, but last year he was put in a position where he just saw too many shots on a nightly basis. That is a key area that we need to improve on next season. Importantly as well though, I have been impressed with Carl’s temperament off the ice and the superb relationship that he has with fellow goalie Adam Marashi. They work hard together and constantly look out for each other and that is important for the spirit within the dressing room."
