Romford Raiders Plans for 2010-2011

Following what can best be described as an "eventful" first season running the Romford Raiders, I am sad to announce that I will be unable to step forward and operate the team again next season.

I am keen to get this decision out in the public domain as quickly as possible to allow the potential and indeed rumoured interested parties to get their plans in place well ahead of the league deadline. Most of you will realise the very short time span that the Raiders had last season to confirm their participation and assemble a squad. That has doubtless had a knock on effect for the rest of the season and I am keen for the team not to operate under that handicap next season.

This season has been a steep learning curve for me, and if anyone else feels in a position to offer the time and finances involved I would gladly pass on what this year has taught me and help them as much as I am capable. The league officials, team representatives, rink management and Venturecore have been very supportive and I am sure that any successor would enjoy those relationships too".

The fans have been exceptionally understanding and whilst recent numbers have dwindled I would like to thank the core of die hard fans that come to watch us even when results have not gone our way. The continual encouragement of the team and management have really helped getting through the season.

Any parties interested in operating the Raiders for 2010 / 2011 should contact Venturecore, but I would be happy to pass on any interest to those who may not have dealt with Venturecore before.

I suspect that I may well be involved in a lesser way next season, assuming that the new operator feels that I can assists. Whilst I don’t like talking for others, I would also be very confident that many of those who have helped me this season would also step forward again. We all have one main priority here and that is keeping the Raiders on ice and, with a head start, a bit further up the league next time.

The last month of the season will see the same commitment on ice as the fans have enjoyed these past few weeks, and we aim to be grabbing quite a few more points before our season is done.

And of course there is the small matter of the best goal celebration of the season. To enter that the lads need to score goals so it is all to play for !

Thanks for all your assistance and support !
