Level Two Coaching

 LEVEL 2 COACHING COURSE OUTLINE

16-18 hours  Price: £115

Demonstrate Leadership
Identifies the major roles the coach must play in the development of the athletes.
Communication in the Hockey Environment
Looks at communication with all the different groups that a coach has to deal with during the season including parents, referees and administrators.
Skill Analysis
Gives the coach the ability to analysis sports skills..
Concentrates on the first two principles of movement and the correction methods for these principles
How the Body Works
Offers an explanation of the bodies physical make-up and an understanding of it’s three energy systems and how these systems effect a players performance during the game. .
Developing Fitness
Describes the bodies four fitness components and how they should be incorporated into the a teams yearly planning.
Growth and Development
Guides the coach through the four areas of development and explains how these interact with the four stages of growth and development.
Goalkeeping
This is an introduction to the key skills for this very importance individual position.  Subjects covered are, basic stance, skating skills, angles, puck stopping and stick skills.
Individual Tactics
This section is a continuation and progression from the Level 1, leading to Team Tactics Section
Yearly Planning
Explains the importance of making a plan for the season.  Guides the coach through the procedure of making the yearly plan.
Building Self-Esteem
Identifies the three primary processes, which effects a players self-esteem and how the coach direct influences these processes.
Team Tactics and Principles
This section concentrates on the offensive and defensive team tactics a team needs should and describes a principles that govern these tactics.
Developing Hockey Sense
A guide to understanding ç Game Situation Roles.
An explanation of how to develop hockey sense in your players.
On Ice session     Minimum 1 hour
The Ice session covers incorporates the progressions of Individual and Team Tactics.
An assessment of the coaches skating ability is judged on this session.
Exam procedure
If the coach meets the required skating standard a take home exam is given.
The time for return of this exam is 4 weeks.

Minimum Proficiency to attend Coaching Courses

 To attend, and pass an EIHA coaching course you must be able to execute the following on ice with proficiency and under control: 

  1. Skate forward
  2. Carry out tight turn in both directions
  3. Stop moving in all directions
  4. Skate backwards
  5. Crossover efficiently forwards and backwards
  6. Pivot forwards to backwards and backwards to forward
  7. Stop on both feet forward & backward
  8. Must show a good understanding of the mechanics of shooting
  9. Must be able to demonstrate stick handling and passing and pass receiving elements to a competent standard.
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of teaching techniques as applied in teaching progressions.  (Whole part whole).
The Level 2 coach should be able to demonstrate all the elements in the skating proficiency in both Level 1 and Level 2.
In addition a Level 2 coach must be able to demonstrate the Level 1 stick handling and passing/shooting elements.
